CustomerReviews

I Love It!
I've only had this sewing machine for about 3 weeks and am Loving It! I had never sewn before (outside of a button or a 'soppy' hem) and already I'm producing pillow covers and tote bags that are looking 'great'!

I did lots of research online before deciding on this machine and so far it meets up to all of the factors I was looking for. I found the instruction manual a little sketchy to understand and wish it explained more about when to use specific 'feet/needles' etc... but I suppose that's what a 'learn how to sew' book is for ;) The machine came with plenty of needles/bobbins/etc to get me off and running! and as soon as I figure out the 'walking foot' ;) I'm going to start my first patchwork quilt!

Some of the other reviews I've read stated that others had trouble with the thread 'jamming' up... so far I've had no such issues. The overall construction seems a little 'flimsy' but I suppose that helps with the 'lightweight' nature of it and that is another bonus, since it's not a bear to lug around! The 'cover' is not a carrying case as it doesn't actually 'attach' to the machine... but just the same a 'cover' was one of the features I was looking for and this does its duty :)

Overall I would highly recommend this machine to anyone wanting to learn to sew :)

Some issues
I read the Amazon reviews very closely before making this purchase. I loved this machine when I first bought it b/c it had a happy purr when I sewed. It was so cute and compact. I was influenced by the glowing reviews and thought this would be a great little machine.

So, the problems started. I assumed that I just wasn't very skilled at sewing zippers. The foot was wobbly and the stitches were terrible. But after three different people trying sewing on my machine they all hate the zipper foot. All of the users were skilled sewers and one taught at Parsons. It's a technical problem -you can't get close enough to the zipper to make a good, straight stitch. Now, I sew perfect zippers all the time on other machines. I bought another zipper foot at Jo-Annes but it just doesn't work. Real sewers need to be able to sew zippers -it's really basic. Simple straight stitching was fine most of the time. The machine never liked frequent use and would have threading/bobbin problems if I sewed more than a couple of hours in a day.

I'm a design student and this is a problem. It's really a cheap consumer model and you get what you pay for. I felt like after reading the stellar reviews I couldn't pass up such a good deal. I would not buy the machine after using it (and relying on it) for while. I don't need an industrial machine for home use -but I certainly need one that will last and be dependable.

Last year I did a project making simple cat beds for the animal shelter. It's horrible to see cats sleep in their litter b/c the open wire cages are so uncomfortable. Well, my goal was to make 30-70 unlined, two layer bed/blankets in a medium cotton fabric. This is one of the simplest and fastest projects I can imagine doing. The machine couldn't handle consistent use and the needle kept getting caught in the bobbin. The needle even seemed to shift forward slightly which was odd. The repairs were almost the cost of the machine so now it sits in the closet. I'll donate it to a nonprofit if I find one that can get it repaired for free/cheap.

Love my new machine
This is a good quality sewing machine with great features and ease of use. I'm a beginner sewer and with it's easy to follow instructions I've already made and stiched several items. I love and it's alot of fun. Also, I searched the entire web for this exact machine before buying and this vendor was the lowest priced.

Great sewing machine
I nought thiis machine as a Cjrisstmas present for my 15 year old granddaughter. She had it up and running in less than 15 minutes and was very happy with it. All necessary items were included.

Terrible stitch tension and needle breaking issues
I purchased this machine because it has a lot of nice stitches and buttonholes. Plus, the price was good and the reviews on this website were excellent overall.

However, my experience has been the same as the other 1-star reviews.

No matter what adjustments I make, or thread I use, the stitch tension is a mess. It makes lots of loops on the bottom side and makes a mess of loops every time I go in reverse. I can't adjust the tension to make a difference.

Also, it breaks needles all the time, but also jams on needles all the time. You can't win.

Bottom line is this thing is junk. I've had to go back to using the 35 year old machine I got as hand me down from my mother.
